About Our Company
Our business was originally founded in 1998 and has evolved significantly over the years. We are one business which, through a few subsidiary companies, employs a team of highly skilled specialists in a variety of different professions.
After being awarded ‘Buyer’s Agency of the Year’ in 4 out of 5 years (2018, 2020, 2021 and 2022), Propertyology was inducted into the REIQ Hall of Fame in October 2023. Similarly, managing director Simon Pressley was personally inducted into the Real Estate Institute of Australia Hall of Fame in 2015, after being awarded ‘REIA Buyer’s Agent of the Year’ in 3-consecutive years (2012, 2013 & 2014).
With property as our asset class specialisation, our aim is to help people to make good decisions for their financial future. We do this using an integrated approach with a range of professional services, including property market research (Australia-wide), buyer’s agency and investment planning.
To make the process as seamless as possible for our clients, we also form alliances with external parties for services such as conveyancing, mortgage broking, property management, property inspections, and quantity surveying (depreciation schedules). We do not accept referral fees from these third parties.
The Science of Property Markets
According to 2012/13 Australian Taxation Office statistics, 1,944,080 individuals declared rental income on 2,809,330 rental properties (a mere 1.44 properties per investor).
From forecasting property markets, share markets, to commodity prices, or the weather, the influencing factors are wide ranging. It’s by no means an exact science however, there is a science to forecasting; it’s part of our core business!
Investing is too important to rely on wives tales, myths, and media reports. Propertyology applies our learnings from formal studies of Australian property market history.
A national interest in investing
Across eight states and territories, there are approximately 550 individual local government jurisdictions; each one of these is akin to a company on the stock exchange.
PROPERTYOLOGY’s core business is to analyse the investment fundamentals of these 550 locations and to strategically select those which we believe have good, long-term, investment potential.

Our History
The origins of the services provided by the business are directly linked to the commercial finance background of founder and Managing Director, Simon Pressley, who has a keen interest in economics, commerce, property, and helping people to make good financial decisions.
Under the name of ‘6-Point Finance’, the business commenced operation in August 1998, originally offering finance consulting services including commercial property lending, business finances, and mortgage broking.
In 2004 and 2008, the business was recognised for excellence in the finance industry and adjudged ‘Australia’s Best Brokerage Business (under 10 staff)’ at the Australian Mortgage Awards.
In 2008, the business decided that it wanted to help its clients in more ways so it elected to expand its service offering. A bold decision was made to become pioneers of a niche service which provides investors with high-end research of property markets (literally) all over Australia, tertiary-qualified investment planning, buyer’s agency, and other services associated with building a diverse property investment portfolio. Over the subsequent few years, significant investment was made in market research, systems development, and tertiary studies.
In 2009, the business acquired a full real estate license in Queensland for the purpose of offering buyer’s agency services. To help clients take advantage of more investment opportunities, licenses have subsequently been acquired in other Australian states.
Also in 2009, studies were completed and qualifications acquired for the business to provide property investment planning services. Later that year we finalised the initial version of our unique investment planning software.
As our service offering has expanded so, too, has our investment in recruitment, training, and development of personnel. From market research, to buyer’s agency, investment planning, and mortgage broking, we are proud of the integrity and skill level of all our team members.
The Propertyology brand was adopted in 2011.
In 2012, 2013 and 2014, the real estate industry acknowledged our innovation, leadership, and genuine point of difference at the industry’s annual awards for excellence; both the Real Estate Institute of Queensland (REIQ) and Real Estate Institute of Australia (REIA) awarded our Managing Director ‘Buyer’s Agent of the Year’ in three (3) consecutive years. In 2015, he would become only the third person ever inducted in to the REIA Hall Of Fame.
For the eleven (12) consecutive years of 2012 to 2023 inclusive, Propertyology has been called up to the podium and recognised for industry-best achievements at the annual REIQ Awards for Excellence.
Propertyology’s sustained success includes being awarded as the WINNER of the ‘REIQ Buyer’s agency of the Year’ in 4 of the last 5 years, including being inducted into the REIQ Hall of Fame in October 2023.
Across Australia, Propertyology has become a respected source of objective and comprehensive property market analysis. Noted property commentator, Terry Ryder, even described us as “…the best real estate research analyst in Australia” in October 2020.
Our insights regularly feature in the media on television programs such as Your Money Your Call, Sky News Real Estate, Switzer TV, Real Estate Talk and in major publications such Smart Property Investment, Domain, Realestate.com, Your Investment Property and all mainstream newspapers.
Our Affiliations
Propertyology is in constant pursuit of excellence. In life in general, there are numerous activities which we can all ponder performing ourselves versus engaging the services of a professional. Some common examples include lodging a tax return, conveyancing for a property transaction, writing a Will, or making a loan application.
While it may cost less to complete such tasks yourself, the end result is often comprised when a skilled and experienced professional isn’t engaged. Property investment is no different. The study of property markets and buying investment properties is a profession, not a hobby!
PROPERTYOLOGY’S corporate culture is built upon constantly striving to better ourselves as a business and individuals. We do this because our client’s best interest is our number one priority.
