Surprising Results For State Population Growth

Australia’s latest population growth figures for the year ending December 2013 were released by the ABS last week.

There are some surprising results. Propertyology has analysed them for you here… 

• Western Australia continues to be attract the highest overall population growth rate (2.9%), followed by Victoria (1.9%), Queensland and Northern Territory (both 1.7%) and New South Wales (1.5%)
• Victoria and Queensland lead the way with the highest net increase of interstate migration
• 11,219 more residents left New South Wales than arrived (Sydney having the most expensive housing costs would be a common cause)
• Overseas migration was highest in New South Wales (71,446), Victoria (62,337) and Western Australia (45,401)
